On November 13, 2008, Kaia was diagnosed with leukemia and died three days later on November 16 at the age of 65.
Viewing/cremation/funeral[]
On November 22, 2008, a viewing for her was held at the Cathedral of Christ the Light in Oakland, California. She was cremated an hour later. Six days later on November 28, her funeral was held there.
Burial[]
Her ashes were interred in the Mary Corridor near the St. Patrick Corridor in the Cathedral of Christ the Light Mausoleum in Oakland, California.
