On October 21, 2009, Lexia collapsed in her home after she started vomiting and it was announced that she suffered a throat infection. She died three days later on October 24 at the age of 67.

On October 29, 2009, her funeral was held at the funeral home at the Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland, California.

She was interred next to Jack in the Admiration section at the Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland, California.
